Tony O’Connor Talks Before Large and Friendly Crowd

A large crowd turned out last night at the Eastside Restaurant in Newport to listen to Tony O’Connor tell why they should vote for him for governor of Vermont. It was disappointing to see that none of the statewide media showed up to it. Guess they don’t consider him a viable candidate.

Since I’m friends with Tony, and have no fear of big crowds, I introduced him by telling a few stories and poking a bit of fun at him. I also owned up to the fact that although I am friends with Tony, I continue to support the gov.

Â
Tony did a great job sharing his ideas. Although I support Gov. Douglas, I must admit Tony has some practical ideas about how to tackle some important issues. He didn’t sway me away from my support of the gov., but I certainly commend Tony for his run for the top office in Vermont.

Â
Realistically, Tony knows that his chance of winning the race is minimal at best. However, if he can’t win, he hopes to at least bring attention to some issues and ideas how he think they can be solved.

Â
Boy, Tony has more guts and stamina than I do – to run for governor. Never, never, never, would I think of such a thing.
