Did I Take a Wrong Turn and End Up in Washington D.C.

Was I elected to the Vermont House or to the U.S. House? With all respects to the people who visited the State House today (April 26) to demand that we pass a resolution to impeach Pres. Bush, I think they took the wrong turn and ended up in Montpelier on their way to Washington D.C. Aren’t Senators Leahy and Sanders, as well as Congressman Welch, in Washington representing us? Shouldn’t they be the ones to ask for impeachment so we can go about the state’s business – what we were elected to do?

Needless to say, I voted against impeachment, not because I have a fond love for the president or the war we’re in, but as I said, this should be handled at the federal level. And while there are some self-appointed experts about the president and his motives, as well as what is going on in Washington D.C. (on both sides of the issue), at the state level, I just don’t have those facts. I trust that the three men we have representing us in Washington will use the information at their hands to do what they think is right – be in impeachment or not. Let’s trust the men we elected.
